MAHON HARBOUR

The capital city of Menorca is Mahon (or Mao).

On one side of Mahon Harbour lies the city of  Mahon.

On the other side of the harbour is...

la Mola!

la Mola! There's a bear here somewhere!

la Mola is a huge fort that was built by the Spanish government for Queen Isabella II  in

1848.

It took 25 years to build and has a maze of underground tunnels. When it was finished they no longer needed it!

Over the years it has been added to and was bombed during the Spanish Revolution!

It was last used as a prison.

Big isn't it!And this is just the courtyard!!!

Good view from this cannon!

It's a long way down!

They still have an old wagon!
